The existing grand residence, designed by Heathcote Helmore is a heritage listed property in Helmores Lane, nestled adjacent to Hagley Park. Years of alterations and additions and subsequent earthquake repair work resulted in the need for a holistic refurbishment of the property.

UA Studio was engaged to reconfigure the house and studio garage, working with Christchurch City Council’s heritage advisor to gain consent on this prestigious property.

In addition to the architecture, we also redesigned the landscape to create a series of new outdoor rooms and spaces to maximise the connection to the grounds, reconnecting the house to its heritage listed setting.
